Commentary on the Letter of Jude. pt.1

Commentary on the Letter of Jude.
Written between 61-62 A.D.
1 Jude, a slave of Jesus Anointed, and brother of Jacob, to those in God the Father having been
loved, and having been called out and preserved by Jesus Anointed
, Jude announces himself a slave
of Christ and brother of Jacob. He has been called out by Jesus. Now right here in the beginning Judeos
and the godless will argue and accuse Jude about whose brother he was or if he was the half-brother of
Christ etc. Jude never describes himself as the brother of Christ, though if he was it would not matter.
Some say he was a cousin of Jesus. So what? If he was -good, if not it does not matter. The Jacob
spoken of here could also be any Jacob or James as some Bibles have the name. Again it does not
matter who he was. What matters is that Jude was a Christian as was his brother Jacob.

2 compassion unto you, and peace, and honorable brotherly love be multiplied. 3 Having made all
diligence to write to you about our common salvation, beloved, I had need to write to you, and
exhort you to fight earnestly for the persuasion once delivered to the Separated Ones.
Jude writes
to his Christian friends here reminding them of the common salvation open to all Adamics. There is no
special salvation for certain people. Christianity is a common salvation as God is not a respecter of
persons. But reputation and honor and peace to everyone working out the good, both to the
Judean, firstly, and of the Greek. For there is no respect of persons with God. (Romans 2.10,11)

Jude exhorts them to fight for the persuasion which has been delivered to the Separated Ones. They are
not waiting for something else. Christ said on the cross that His work was finished. The word
persuasion is from pistei (noun fem dat sg form of pistis) which is faith; a stereotypical rendition of
derivatives of faithfulness; honesty. The term Separated Ones is translated for hagios, which when used
of people means holy, pure. The phrasing here means that the persuasion of Christ was brought to the
folk of the Separated Persuasion or Holy Faith. These people are separated unto God.
